"The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn."
–Ralph Waldo Emerson

In the fall the squirrels and I make a deal. We both hunt the property for the tiny magical nuts that drop from the coastal oaks. The caps are for me and the nuts are for them. It's that simple, and everyone wins.

I electroform (copper plate) the caps and make a tiny acorn from molten glass to fit each cap. This one is in three layers of opaque and translucent glass in shades of purple and light pinkish lilac, with trails of fine silver in the middle. I finished this piece with a 34" long antiqued brass chain that can be worn looped around twice to shorten the necklace if desired, worn lariat-style (or let me know if you'd like a shorter length). Acorn is about 1" wide at the top by 1 5/8" long.

I make all of my own glass beads and headpins from soft glass using a propane and oxygen torch, and they are fully annealed overnight in a digitally controlled kiln for durability. My beads are carefully cleaned with a high speed rotary tool and inspected before assembly into jewelry. Most of my lampwork glass pieces are one of a kind and may be treasured for many years to come. All of my jewelry comes in packaging suitable for gifting.
